Clip art comes in many shapes and forms. There are also many types of graphic formats - the way in which the art is created and how it was saved to disk, and many applications that use specific formats.
Paint applications, drawing programs, gray level imaging and PostScript illustration programs all refer to specific types of artwork.
All ArtClips images are PostScript artwork.
PostScript is actually a computer language that is specially adept at describing pages. While it is just composed as computer commands, it allows for pages consisting of both complex graphic rendering and powerful typographic control. One of the benefits of using PostScript is that it may be used across many output devices regardless of the resolution. Another benefit is that you may resize, rotate, and otherwise manipulate the PostScript image without losing any resolution or clarity in the final output.
PostScript is a powerful language that allows applications to visually manipulate images without you having to know any programming code. We created ArtClips in Adobe Illustrator EPS format.
Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files, include both a low resolution PICT image to display on screen, and PostScript code to print the image perfectly at any resolution. This allows us to preview images in desktop publishing or presentation applications for size changes, cropping, positioning, etc. All ArtClips images are stored in Macintosh Encapsulated PostScript format.
In addition, this CDROM Special Edition features the clip art in PICT format as well.
